Hello, I'm Back!
My apologies for such a long absence. I have been working with the marvelous Elena Sharnoff to produce this new website. I hope you like it.
I am delighted that Four Horsemen Publishing signed me up for a five-year contract back in the winter. They have been a delight to work with. My editor is meticulous, and the artist who designed the front cover for The Turkish Connection is very talented, as I’m sure you’ll agree. My editor is now working his way through the second novel in the Sleuthing with Mortals series, The Witch of Tut. I’m now slogging away at the third book, the Knight, the Gnome, and the Fox. I love historical fiction—both to read and to write—so I’m glad to say these books work their way through numerous eras, cultures, and momentous events.
The Blitz Business continues to sell well and still awaits a sequel, as does The Flower Ladies Trilogy. the last book in the trilogy. I’ll get there—promise! I started, but put it aside for new ventures.
In June I will be on the faculty of the Tinker Mountain Writer’s Workshop at Hollins University, teaching a class for new writers. It will be great to see old friends, several of the faculty among them. I shall enjoy the seminars and readings, too.
I haven’t had much time for painting recently—the good people at Four Horsemen keep my nose to the grindstone! I do have several paintings that need framing, though, which I need to get to so that I can hang them in local shows. I belong to the McLean Art Society (in Northern Virginia and The Calvert Artists Guild (in Southern Maryland), so there are plenty of opportunities to show my work.
I spent a few days at our house on the Chesapeake Bay last weekend as I had weeding and planting to do. Rather late, but this spring has been so cool. Now to plant the forty or so pots and hanging baskets on our deck in Virginia.
My husband has been working overseas for twenty years and has finally retired. He arrives tonight, on Mother’s Day! My son came from Richmond to take me to dinner and surprise his father. My daughter and grandies live in Toronto, so we won’t see them until my granddaughter’s high school graduation.
Goodbye for now. I’ll do better with regular posts in future,
Dorothy
